Pelotonia Bike Tour This Weekend

This weekend, 10 Bob Evans employees will join the fight against cancer by riding in the Pelotonia Bike Tour. At Bob Evans, we win together as a team - and we're proud to be a small part of the larger Pelotonia effort. Pelotonia is a grass roots bike tour with its only goal being to end cancer. Pelotonia raises money for ground-breaking and life saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center- James Cancer Hospital.

Not only will our employees be riding in the tour, Bob Evans is also proud to be at the event each morning to feed the riders a delicious breakfast! We will have many corporate volunteers and our mascots, Biscuit and Gravy, will be helping to serve the breakfast as well!

Biscuit Month Contests All Through September

The whole month of September is Biscuit month, and Bob Evans is celebrating with online promotions and contests all month long!

During the entire month of September follow @BobEvansFarms for a daily trivia contest (Monday through Friday only).  Be the first to answer the trivia question correctly to win a $10 Bob Evans gift card as well as Bob Evans grocery product coupons!  And with 30 meals starting at 5.99 and under, that can go a long way.

The second week of Biscuit month is Biscuit and Gravy week, and Bob Evans is celebrating in a big way by hosting the “Where are Biscuit and Gravy” Contest!  To join in all of the fun, become a fan of Bob Evans on Facebook and from September 7-11 log on and try to find where Biscuit and Gravy are for great prizes, including an iPod® Nano, a GPS unit, a digital photo frame, Bob Evans gift cards and more!  There will be a series of picture clues posted on the Bob Evans Facebook page  to where Biscuit and Gravy are, and the first person to answer correctly on a comment will win the prize pack for the day! 

Also, the week prior to biscuit month, check out @BobEvansFarms on Twitter for two special  tweets for our Retweet contest!  Retweet the special message and be the 25th Retweet to win a $50 Bob Evans gift card and Bob Evans grocery product coupons.  The special tweet will come up at a random time during the week, so make sure to check @BobEvansFarms often so you don’t miss the contest!

RECIPE WINNERS RECEIVE BOB EVANS PRODUCTS, DAY WITH CHEFS

Four talented cooks won a year’s worth of free Bob Evans grocery products, a day with Bob Evans chefs and other prizes when their recipes were chosen as winners in the Bob Evans and Ohio Farm Bureau Recipe Contest!  Winners were named in each of four categories:  summer grilling, breakfast, slow-cooker and budget friendly recipes.  Their recipes, along with a picture and an interview, will appear in an upcoming issue of the Ohio Farm Bureau’s Our Ohio Magazine.  Judges for the recipe contest were Bob Evans Chef Brian Murphy, Home Economist Connie Cahill, and Farmer and Farmer’s Market Owner Kerry Sullivan.  For complete copies of the recipes, visit www.ourohio.org.

Sampling Event at the Baltimore Science Center this Weekend!

This Saturday and Sunday, Bob Evans is going to be at the Baltimore Science Center in Baltimore, MD for a sampling event. If you’re in the Baltimore area, make sure to bring the kids anytime from 12-4 p.m. to have their picture taken with our mascots, Biscuit and Gravy and sample some great food! We will be sampling our famous Bob-B-Q pulled pork sandwiches, Italian sausage and brats! We will also be passing out FREE kid’s meal coupons and coupons for 50 cents off of our grilling sausage that can be purchased at local grocery stores.

Tuesday, August 11: Sunny 95 Block Party—6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Sunny 95 will be hosting another one of their famous Block Parties and Bob Evans is proud to be a part of it! Come out to Canal Winchester, Ohio and try our delicious Bratwurst, Italian Sausage & our famous Wildfire Pulled Pork Sandwiches! Pick up some coupons and sign the kids up for Bob Evans Kid's Club where they can eat FREE on their birthdays!

Wednesday, August 12: Sunny 95 Listener Lunch—11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Sunny 95 is hosting its first Listener Lunch of the summer season. Businesses will be setting up booths around the area to hand out coupons, toys and plenty of FREE food! Bob Evans will be giving away our delicious brats, so come enjoy a brat or two on us! After you fill up on great food, be sure to grab your grocery product coupons, recipes and FREE Kid's Meal coupons!

Friday, August 14: Dayton Dragons and Bob Evans Player/Mascot Appearance—10:30 a.m.- 12 p.m.

Come meet your favorite Dayton Dragons players and "Heater" at Bob Evans! While there, be sure to get your Dayton Dragons gear and have it signed by the players! Don't forget your coupons for a FREE Kid's Meal and grocery products!

Friday, August 14: Columbus JazZoo

Turn up the volume on your summer plans with the wild trill of classical jazz, swing, blues and more at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium during the Columbus Jazz Arts Group's JazZoo celebration. Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16: Cincinnati Union Centre Boulevard Bash

Bob Evans is a proud sponsor of Cincinnati's Union Centre Boulevard Bash! We will be there giving away FREE samples of our brats, Italian Sausage and Bob-B-Q! Stop by and see us to pick up some great food and product coupons! This huge music concert has many activities for the whole family including rides, games and a kid's fashion show during the day! Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16: Baltimore Science Day

Bob Evans will be sponsoring Backyard Science Days at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, MD. We will be there giving away FREE samples of our brats, Italian Sausage and Bob-B-Q! Sunday, August 16: Columbus Clippers Family Day!

Bob Evans and the Columbus Clippers are teaming up to offer "Bob Evans Family Days". On these days, two adults and up to four children, 18 years old or under, are admitted to general admission for just $15. Just remember to stop by your favorite Bob Evans restaurant before the game to pick up your savings card to receive this great deal! Also, any kids who run the bases on Sunday will receive a FREE Kid's Meal coupon and meet Biscuit and Gravy!

Balloon Classic Invitational Recap

Last Friday, the Bob Evans team arrived for a taste event in North Canton, Ohio at the Balloon Classic Invitational.  This was the first time that Bob Evans has ever been involved in the 9-day-long activities of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival. The Balloon Classic Invitational includes dozens of vendors, live music, activities for children and the best part of all: over 70 hot air balloons taking flight right next to the Bob Evans’ tent! We passed out samples of our brats and Italian sausage as over 130,000 spectators watched these magnificent, colorful balloons launch into the air. There were a few specially shaped balloons including “Piggy” the piggy bank and “Touchdown”, the enormous flying football.
The pilots of each balloon had a chance to win $3,000 at the end of their routes. If they could fly low enough to grab a ribbon off of the top of a pole in the center of the field, they would win the jackpot. Unfortunately, only one balloon even got close enough to grab the ribbon and missed it! There is always next year!

Visitors of the Balloon Classic Invitational were so excited to see us passing out food right where all of the action was. The weather was perfect and we had such a great time!

Twilight at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo this Friday!

This Friday, August 7, 2009, from 7 p.m. to midnight, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Bob Evans will be teaming up to host Twilight at the Zoo, Cleveland’s largest fundraiser and wildest party of the summer! 

The event will be hosting 14 different bands, playing an assortment of music including Motown, salsa, rock, swing, country and blues!  Dance your way through all of the great zoo exhibits while enjoying an assortment of complimentary drinks and food. 

Don't forget to stop by our Bob Evans tent, where we will be serving our famous Brats and Italian Sausage throughout the fundraiser.

There will also be a raffle with tons of great prizes throughout the evening. The event is only open to guests 21 or over.

Smokey Bear’s 65th Birthday Party This Weekend

Smokey Bear is turning 65 this year, and Bob Evans is teaming up with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters to celebrate this monumental symbol’s birthday. The festivities will take place at the Bob Evans Farm in Rio Grande, Ohio August 8 - 9, 2009, with admission being free for all ages!

On Saturday, August 8th and 9th, the 25‐foot Cold Air Smokey Bear Balloon will be located at the Bob Evans Farm in Rio Grande, Ohio. Smokey Bear will be on‐site for pictures. Visitors can tour a fire engine and meet firefighters from the Wayne National Forest. The Bob Evans Homestead Museum, in partnership with the Wayne National Forest, has a display on‐site showing the story and legacy of Smokey Bear. The exhibit includes campaign posters, photographs, books, toys, educational kits and Smokey Bear figurines.

On Sunday, August 9th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the public is invited to visit the Homestead Museum for another Smokey Bear Birthday Party. Activities include:

• Visit with Smokey Bear
• 25’Smokey Bear Cold Air Balloon provided by the Wayne National Forest
• 1946 Fire Truck & 4,000 Gallon Super Tanker displayed by the Rio Grande Volunteer Fire Department
• Wayne National Forest Fire Truck & Fire Fighters on-hand
• Make a “Get Your Smokey On”Smokey Bear Mask
• Sign Smokey Bear’s Birthday Card
• Jump Houses
• Birthday Cake
• Smokey Bear Treat Bags & Balloons (1st 200 children attending)

While you are at the party, make sure to check out the Smokey Bear exhibit in the Bob Evans Homestead Museum!  Learn about Smokey’s past and see the history behind the country’s longest running public service announcement.  The exhibit includes items such as campaign posters, photographs, books, toys educations kits and Smokey Bear figurines.
